Client Story: Luisa

← Clients' Stories
December 3, 2018

Luisa was visibly distressed the day she came to the CRC office carrying her baby in her arms.  The little girl was curled up against her mother and appeared to be about two years old.  During the intake interview, we learned the child is seven years old and has microcephaly caused by the Zika virus.

Microcephaly can cause a cascade of physical, neurological, and developmental symptoms including feeding problems, difficulty swallowing, hearing loss, vision problems and impaired growth and cognitive development.

As the full-time caregiver for her daughter, Luisa was struggling financially.  CRC was able to find a proper car seat, a crib and a supply of clothing and diapers.  There is still a long way to go for Luisa and her family, but we are committed to helping her on this challenging journey.
