Mike was being abused by his caregiver and had to be removed immediately from the home where he was staying. He needed to be protected from this horrific living situation. His safety and security were paramount. The Shelter for Abused Women and Children referred Mike to Collier Resource Center. Finding a place to live was further complicated because he was blind, had other disabilities, as well as numerous health challenges.

Our Collier Resource Center volunteer, took the call and immediately began searching and researching. She learned The Center for Independent Living had space for him – a place where he could live safely and have accommodations for his disabilities. When organizations work together, as we do with other non-profit partners, everyone benefits.

We have helped more than 2,000 people in the past six years and your support has made it possible. Summer is a challenging time to raise funds and we hope you will consider donating today to Collier Resource Center so more people like Mike will find the help they need.

Marioly, our program coordinator, and her team of 21 volunteers listen patiently and with a knowledgeable ear to determine the “bigger picture.” This feature of case management, which makes us unique, discerns why the caller is struggling and enables us to offer appropriate resources as well as abundant kindness.!We need your help to respond to a growing and often desperate need people have here in Collier County.
