Strachan

An award-winning journalist, Eric recently retired as editor of Florida Weekly’s Naples and Bonita Springs editions. Previously, he held a 32-year career with the Naples Daily News in several newsroom roles. He started his career with the Daily News as a photojournalist, then as Director of Photography, and was subsequently promoted in various roles. He was its Senior Managing Editor from 2007 until leaving the newspaper in 2013. Under his watch, the Daily News was honored as a Pulitzer Prize finalist in feature photography for its series “Faces of the Downturn,” a four-day series on the effects of the economic recession of which Eric was the lead photo editor and designer of the project.

Before joining Florida Weekly in 2019, he was the director of research/private investigator with a Naples boutique consulting firm specializing in comprehensive, detailed investment research and due diligence.

He has served as a contest judge for Camera USA National Photography Exhibition and Awards, and on the faculty of the Stan Kalish Picture Editing Workshop for 12 years at Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI., and Ball State University, Muncie, IN, He was an award judge for the national Best of Photojournalism competition and with Camera USA National Photography Exhibition and Awards.

Eric is a graduate of the Greater Naples Chamber Leadership Collier, and he has served as a volunteer photographer at the Naples Winter Wine Festival.
